CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Weiss Schnee
Character Canon: RWBY

History: brief overview | episode guide | Weiss' history

AU History: (This is required for all characters to integrate them into the setting. It can be reasonably simple, or it can be more complex. You may integrate other characters into your history with their permission.)

Canon Personality: At the very least, Weiss can be described as a cold girl. She projects an air of sophistication combined with a know-it-all attitude. Her words are usually sharp and to the point, and she has no qualms with giving her opinion, even if it isn't the nicest thing to say. Weiss wears a mask and puts a wall up around strangers. Her own voice actor has described her as "a little bit bitchy."

Growing up wasn't bad for her. She got almost everything she wanted. As such, she is spoiled and used to having the finer things in life. Even then, that does not mean she doesn't try hard to accomplish her goals. Weiss studies, gets good grades, and has become quite efficient when using her Semblance. Little is known as to how she perfected her skills, but one can assume it was through hard work and dedication. She is confident in her abilities as a huntress-in-training, but understands she needs to learn more. That is one reason why she knows attending Beacon Academy will be beneficial to her.

Underneath her cold exterior, Weiss is lonely. It is difficult for her to get along with her peers because she is opinionated and bossy. It is possible that she learned the hard way that many people were only interested in her because of her status. Even though she loves her father, Weiss is determined to come out of his shadow and make a name for herself.

Weiss has been known to be discriminatory against people who look or act different. Not only was she initially put off by Ruby Rose, she can be extremely judgmental and has little tolerance for groups like the White Fang, and even the Faunus. Though she has gotten better by the end of the second volume, there were comments made about Faunus that came off as racist (she called the Faunus working with the White Fang "criminally insane" "degenerates" who "only know how to lie, cheat, and steal," and then went on to refer to Sun Wukong as a rapscallion and riffraff). Her negative attitude towards the White Fang stems from the fact that the group attacked the Schnee Dust Company more than once. She said this made life difficult for her, and may have even caused the rift between her and her father.

It can also be said that, once Weiss has been informed that she has done something wrong, she works quickly to fix the problem. There are at least three major instances of her changing her opinions in volume one: She made up with Ruby once she realized they were going to be partners, even though the day before, Weiss said she never wanted Ruby to speak to her. When she had doubts about Ruby being made a leader, Professor Port told her her attitude was poor and that she should work on being a better person. Hours later, Weiss appeared to have accepted Ruby as leader. And finally, after learning of Blake's true identity, Weiss accepts her and even goes out of her way to tell Blake that she should confide more in her teammates.

Sometimes, Weiss can be a little rebellious, because everything in her life has been decided for her. Perhaps this is why she wears her ponytail to the side, and not in the center of her head. Her unruly behavior is not a gigantic part of her. Contrarily, she does not disregard authority. For all intents and purposes, Weiss is a hard worker. She wants to get stronger and even acknowledges her faults. She knows how to handle herself in a fight, but also knows when retreating would be her best option. Because she works so hard, it annoys her greatly to see other people slacking off, particularly during classes. She will not turn away assistance if she needs it.

If someone can get past the harsh exterior, crack through her walls, she has some good stuff in her. Deep down, Weiss wants to be able to place her trust in people. She longs for friends who will like her for who she is, not because of her name. She has the ability to love and nurture, even though that sometimes doesn't come across. She enjoys having a good time as much as any other girl—as evidenced by her participation in the epic food fight, and her desire to tell a joke that will make her teammates laugh—and she can be a valuable asset to a team because she is resolute and loyal. Not only does Weiss want to be the best teammate, she wants to help make her partner, Ruby, a better leader. By the end of volume 2, we see Weiss smiling more, and she also says she wants to stop the shady business practices her father has been using. She is on her way to being that better, more well-rounded person she wants to be.

AU Deviation: (The nature of the AU is such that the character's personal history will be different, be it in simple or dramatic ways. Due to a much different upbringing, we expect there to be at least some variation, even if small. Spend at least one paragraph detailing in what ways the character differs from their canon incarnation.)

Canon Abilities: The world of RWBY has a few magical items and abilities that I will briefly cover before discussing Weiss' personal strengths. For starters, the world has a natural resource known as Dust. It comes in a variety of elements, and it can be used by people to enhance their own abilities, or weapons. This is especially useful if a person does not have any magical properties of their own. Another power in this world is the use of a Semblance. Not everyone has a Semblance, but the ones that do are able to call upon it to help them in battle. A Semblance is kind of like a magical spell, but it is unique to each individual.

Weiss uses both Dust and her Semblance to make up for her limitations on the battlefield. She is not as strong or as quick as her teammates, and she seems to be severely lacking in stamina. Weiss' semblance is the ability to create glyphs, which have a variety of properties, depending on what Dust the glyph is combined with. She can use these glyphs to propel herself forward, create a shield, or even give her teammates a boost.

Weiss also uses a Multi-Action Dust Rapier (MADR) called Myrtenaster, so she is experienced with a sword. The rapier also holds Dust inside, so Weiss can pick a color and press a button, and the Dust will be ejected into her glyph. Even without the use of Dust, Weiss is still able to kill monsters with Myrtenaster. She may not be able to take heavy hits, but the use of a weapon combined with Dust and her Semblance perhaps makes Weiss the most resourceful member of team RWBY.

On occasion, she can even be sneaky. When Weiss heard students from other schools would be coming into Vale for the Vytal Festival, she told her teammates that she wanted to welcome them to the kingdom because she was a "representative of Beacon" Academy. Blake Belladonna saw through her, and told the others that Weiss just wanted to spy on them so that she would have a better advantage in the tournament. Weiss immediately spun around on the group and said, "You can't prove that!" This shows that she is always calculating, always wanting to get better so that she can beat her opponents.

Weiss is also able to bounce back after problems, whether these problems be battles or just disappointments in her life. She never lets herself stay depressed or angry for very long. It appears that she has been through many hardships, so she has learned how to cope. She also wants to make herself better, so she is constantly assessing her situations and making changes according to the option.

Lastly, Weiss has been said to be a skilled singer. She was shown singing on the stage in the White trailer.

Enlightened Abilities: (While your character will not have access to their canon abilities, they will instead gain access to up to two Pokémon types as outlined here: http://www.serebii.net/xy/typechart.shtml

Through these types, they will be able to take on an ability set that can mimic their canon abilities. Additionally, they will gain access to special trainer abilities as detailed here: http://bravenewmods.dreamwidth.org/715.html

While filling out this section, a good format would be to describe initial abilities and the way the abilities will develop after the first and second evolutions.

If your character has no canon powers, they may still be an Enlightened. However, we ask that the abilities you choose generally make some sense for the character, whether it's related to personality or other canon considerations.

While complex vehicles are beyond the technology level of Union, characters may, as part of their overall composition, use Enhanced items that have aspects of an available Pokémon. A character may begin with a single Enhanced item, such as a sword that contains the Fire type. This is generally recommended to be similar to something they use in canon.)

Starter Pokémon: (Pick one from the list found here: http://bravenewmods.dreamwidth.org/968.html. Additionally, you may pick a single common Pokémon from the map post found here: http://bravenewmods.dreamwidth.org/5884.html from any of the Verdant Forest or Old City areas.

If you have the "Far from Ordinary" perk, you may pick two starters and one Verdant Forest/Old City Common. Starter Pokémon need not share your type. You are not required to pick a starter; you may start with no Pokémon if desired.)

Notes/Special Considerations: If you have special things you want to do with your character that can potentially impact the plot such as giving them an ancient power from a clan thought long extinct, this is the place to put it. It's suggested that you contact the moderators beforehand to hash things out if you want to do anything dramatic. You may also PM or IM one of the moderators beforehand if you wish to get the section pre-approved or ask questions on what is and is not allowed.

SAMPLES
(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)

First-Person: Weiss at the February/March TDM

Third-Person: (This is written in prose from an independent narrator’s perspective. Here we want to see an insight into your character’s unspoken behavior -- actions, thoughts, their view of their world, etc. The minimum here is two paragraphs. If we do not get a good sense of your character’s behavior, we will ask for more. If you link an outside entry or thread, the minimum is 20 comments from your character in two threads/with two characters.)

If desired, you may answer some of the following questions in lieu of samples. The questions must be answered in-character, as if they are being asked by a teacher, mentor, or superior. If your character is lying in their answer, please identify it as a lie. The purpose of these is to get an idea of how you will play your character in lieu of the other sample options. 4 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a first-person sample, and 6 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a third-person sample. Both samples may be replaced in this manner. If the character doesn't say enough in their answer, we may request a few more answers for an acceptable sample.
